Tips for setting grid points in PCB layout design

Issuing time:2017-09-03 23:19

The design needs to be set up at different stages at different points, and the device layout can be arranged using large grid points;

For large devices such as ICs and non-positioning plug-ins, 50-100mil grid accuracy can be used for layout, while for passive small devices such as resistors, capacitors and inductors, 25mil grid is used for layout. The accuracy of large grid points is conducive to the alignment of devices and the aesthetics of layout.

PCB layout rules:

1. Under normal circumstances, all components should be arranged on the same side of the circuit board. Only when the top layer components are too dense can some devices with limited height and low heat generation, such as chip resistors, chip capacitors, chip ICs, etc. be placed in the low layer.

2. On the premise of ensuring power efficiency, components should be placed on the grid and arranged parallel or perpendicularly to achieve neatness and beauty. Under normal circumstances, components should not be overlapped; components should be compact, and components should be distributed evenly and densely across the entire panel.

3. The minimum spacing between the adjacent pad patterns of different components on the circuit board should be more than 1MM.

4. The edge of the circuit board is generally not less than 2MM. The optimal shape of the circuit board is rectangular, with an aspect ratio of 3:2 or 4:3. When the circuit board surface size is greater than 200MM by 150MM, the mechanical strength that the circuit board can withstand should be considered.

In the layout design of PCB, the units of the circuit board should be analyzed, and the layout should be designed according to the function. When laying out all components of the circuit, the following principles must be followed:

1. Arrange the positions of each functional circuit unit according to the circuit process, so that the layout facilitates signal circulation and keeps the signal in a consistent direction as much as possible.

2. Layout around the core components of each functional unit. Components should be arranged uniformly, integrally and compactly on the PCB to minimize and shorten the leads and connections between each component.
